My set design for Seussical at Area Stage Conservatory Theatre (May 2025) drew inspiration from the vibrant, whimsical illustrations of Dr. Seuss. The design embraced bold colors and playful shapes while incorporating versatile scenic elements that could transform throughout the show. Key pieces were designed to serve multiple purposes, such as a bathtub that converted into Jojo’s bed and a staircase that functioned both as a tree and as Mayzie’s nest. These adaptable elements helped the set shift fluidly between the many imaginative locations in the story while maintaining the visual spirit of the original Seuss artwork. The production was directed by Kelly Wygant with technical direction by Laz Hansen.
